How Much Does It Cost to Have Your Chimney Inspected?

A chimney inspection can cost anywhere from $99 to $399. The cost largely depends on the type of chimney inspection (level 1, 2 or 3), what the chimney company is including in the chimney inspection service, and the time of the year (you can usually find the best deals on your chimney inspection in the spring and summer since it’s less busy for the chimney company).

If you’re just comparing prices, keep in mind that a lower priced chimney inspection may be offered by a company that is not properly certified (why you should only hire a CSIA certified chimney sweep) and most likely does not include a complete camera scan. It all comes down to: you get what you pay for.

What does a chimney inspection include?

A chimney inspection includes a full visual assessment of the exterior of your chimney and fireplace as well as a complete camera scan of the interior of your chimney.

Rooftop Chimney Sweeps uses state of the art camera scanning equipment that we run up your chimney to check for blockages or damage to your chimney liner. When the chimney inspection is complete, you’ll receive a full, visual report detailing findings, actions and results of the inspection and/or cleaning.

It is important to note that not all chimney companies provide this level of service – some just stick a flashlight up the chimney. Make sure you ask what is included in your chimney inspection service. A chimney inspection should be very thorough since it’s sole purpose is to make sure that nothing is missed so that you and your home are protected.

How Long Does a Chimney Inspection Take?

A chimney inspection can take around 45 minutes to complete. A chimney sweep will typically schedule an appointment for 1-1.5 hours to give them enough time to get on the roof to inspect the chimney exterior and in case your home also needs chimney cleaning.
